Insulin-Injection Technque

Various steps for insulin injection are as follows-
1.Wash your hand

First clean hands with a good hand washer so that at the time of injection chances of any infection will be reduced.

2.Remove the plastic cap of the insulin bottle

3.Roll insugen vial between your hands

The purpose of this step is that if the insulin is cloudy then after this step it will be clear, roll the bottle between hands until it is uniformly cloudy

 Remember- Never shake a bottle of insulin

4.Wipe the top of insulin bottle

Wipe the top of insulin botle with a BD alcohol swab

5.Draw air into syringe

Draw air into syringe equal to the dose of insulin will have to take.

6.Intense the vial

Intense the rubber stopper of insulin vial in the middle at a 900 angle and push the air inside the bottle

Remember- Avoid touching the metal rim on the bottle with the needle tip.

7.Holding the bottle

Holding the bottle upside down, slowly and steadily draw the dose in the syringe.

8.Place the syringe on the table

Ready for injeection .place the syringe on the table carefully without letting the needle touch the surface

9.Select the site of the body where insulin is to be inject

It is better to choose abdomen

10.Clean the injection area

Clean the injection area with the alcohol swab.Start in the midle area and then moving in a circular path clear the whole area.To reduce any vicious be sure that the alcohol on the the skin is completely dry before you inject

11.Angle of insertion

The angle of insertion is 900, ,Now gently pinch up the area of skin between your thumb and index and middle fingures.push the needle through the skin at 900  angle slowly push the plunger in to inject the insulin.

12. Retracting the needle

Counting till 5 before pulling the needle out. Release the pinch up and press an alcohol swab over injected spot. Do not massage the area.
